Reiki is an alternative therapy which was developed by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui, in 1922. A
loose translation of the term is “universal life energy” - and in fact
Reiki practitioners work with “ki” or “life force” energy. What exactly is Reiki? It’s a form of
gentle hands-on healing which works with the body’s energy meridians and the chakra system.
The practitioner acts as a channel for the universal energy, which can to
balance your energy field and restore harmony to your body. There is a set sequence of points for a
practitioner to follow….and yet Reiki is very intuitive. One point may need 20 seconds to
balance while another may require 2 minutes. Sometimes you can skip over a point which is already
in balance. You as the client simply lay back and relax. You’ll want to wear comfortable clothing
to a treatment and of course we’ll talk about any specific concerns or areas of tension you’re
dealing with before we start. I’ve taken the training required to become a Reiki Master.
In my experience, people find the treatments very relaxing and enjoyable. Different clients have
different experiences and some people can even doze off during a treatment. When your chakras are
properly balanced and the energy is flowing through your meridian points in harmony, you cannot
