Learning Disabilities or
Learning Abilities
What is a Learning Disability?
A learning disability is a neurological disorder. In simple terms, a learning disability results
from a difference in the way a person's brain is "wired."
Children with learning disabilities are as smart or smarter than their peers.
But they may have difficulty reading, writing, spelling, reasoning, recalling and/or organizing
information if left to figure things out by themselves or if taught in conventional ways.

Children who struggle academically often are not
aware of their best learning styles. My first step
is to help your child discover how they learn. Are they visual, auditory,
kinesthetic...or which combination or these suits them best?
If, for example, your child is a hands-on learner and they care
covering a subject by merely reading about it...well, naturally it well be more
of a challenge for them to learn in this way! Perhaps they are more visually
inclined and diagrams help them to remember. Mabye having them write things down
will work best. Or perhaps it will help them to hear explanations or facts
played via their ipod.
Once we've discovered the optimal way to help your child understand
and retain information we can discuss how to adapt the material they need to
cover in their studies so that it caters to their particular needs. Studying
becomes easier, comprehension levels rise, learning becomes more fun and
easier...and they become more interested in their studies. And of course, with
motivation in place, success is a real possibility. A wonderful side effect of
grater success can be an increase in
self-confidence too!

Attention disorders, such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and learning
disabilities often occur at the same time, but the two disorders are not the same.

What do these children need:
- Understanding of how they learn differently
- Tools to work with their frustration
- Tools to reframe what is being taught into how they need to process it
- Coping skills to communicate their needs to their environment
- Calmness in their overactive minds
- Social Skills
- Self-confidence and Self Acceptance
I work with these beautiful children using all kinds of techniques such as BrainGym (hugely
integrated in Europe in the schools), Stress-management techniques, Hypno- Coaching, Language
patterns, Art and Sound, Systematic and Cognitive approach, Color Therapy, Remedies (Bachflower and
Homeopathic remedies) and many more all individually adapted to each child's needs.
Sometimes the child and I invite the parents, or siblings into the session for greater
understanding or possible healing.
If you have a child in need of support and would like to discuss what we could do for him/her, lets
get in touch and see what we can change in the child's live for the better!
