What is hypnotism?
Hypnosis is a trance-like state in which a person becomes more aware and focused and is more open to suggestion. In other words it is a psychological condition of altered state of consciousness in which the client may be induced to show various differences in behaviour and thinking, like heightened suggestibility and receptivity to direction.
Hypnotherapy is used in a variety of fields of medicine, particularly pre and post surgery and dentistry. A big part of hypnosis is also the amazing work that can be done with emotional and psychological issues.
Scientists have shown that hypnosis is a natural part of human behaviour that affects psychological, social, and physical experience. There is no magic connected with hypnotism, and the hypnotist has no special power and can never make the client do something he or she does not want to do.
The effects of hypnotism depend on the willingness and motivation of the person being hypnotized. In hypnosis, a change in the quality and focus of a person's attention alters his or her internal and external experience therefore changes what he perceives. Change your mind change your life now becomes more than a wishful sentence.
People have used hypnotic techniques since ancient times. But the practice of hypnotism has been condemned at times because of its misuse or because of ignorance, mistaken beliefs, and overstated claims. Today, professional organizations accept hypnotism when it is practiced by licenced professionals.

Hypnosis has been compared to dreaming and sleepwalking. The term hypnosis comes from the Greek word hypnos, which means sleep. However, hypnosis is not actually related to sleep. It involves a more active and intense mental concentration. Hypnotized people can talk, write, and walk about. They are usually fully aware of what is said and done.
