Hear your inner song
Shawn Gallager
March 23, 2008

Think back over yesterday…and remember how many times you told yourself:

•     I look SO good today!
•     I did a fabulous job with that project/dinner/client/discussion.
•     I deserve to be deeply loved.
•     I am worthy and deserving of all good things in my life.
•     I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Did you hear your positive internal voice many times?

Or even a few times?

Or, like the majority of us, did you hear an internal voice of negative reinforcement?

Research shows that small children, on average, hear seven negatives to every positive. As a Board Certified Hypnotherapist, I see many clients in my practice who have challenges providing themselves with positive self-talk in a consistent manner.

If your Inner Critic generally motivates you and doesn’t drag you down too much, you can probably get by…and even have some good success in your life.

But what if…?

What if…you could dramatically improve your financial net worth through positive self talk?

What if…you could allow a deeper, richer and more intimate relationship with those who are closest to you by using your positive self talk?

What if…your physical health and comfort dramatically improved with positive self talk?

Maybe you’ve tried positive thinking in the past and decided “That stuff doesn’t work!”

Words ARE powerful. Your words are either “garbage in, garbage out” or are nourishing, self supportive and help you feel good.

Are you willing to try another way? A way that works?

Personally and professionally, I’ve found that one very powerful way to integrate positive suggestions deep into your subconscious is to sing a song to yourself.

I recommend finding a song with an enjoyable melody that you then rewrite with your words of positive self talk. There many songs to choose from, but to get started, some songs that my clients find helpful include:

•     You’re Beautiful, James Blunt
•     Beautiful, Christina Aguilera
•     What a Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong.

Have you ever had a song that stuck in your head? Of course, you have! We all have. Your brain loves to repeat a song over and over. Leverage this and create a song that access both right and left brain hemispheres with suggestions that encourage your emotional strength and resiliency, excellent health, financial success and happy relationships.

Soon, you will find your song popping into your head as you go throughout your day, and as you do, you are in the process of retraining and transforming your Inner Critic into your very own personal and private Inner Coach.

Remember that the experts tell us that most people need 21 days of consistent and positive self talk to rewire our brain pathways.

Join the ranks of the highly successful and retrain your brain: create your power song and sing it loud and sing it clear…in the shower, in the car…and any other place that feels good. But most of all…sing it every day as many times as you can.

Before you know it, your brain will be rewired for greater success, happiness, peace and prosperity.
